Mind-map !

Posted by Unknown at 02:25 0 comments
Mickey explaining about mind mapping and different ways to do mind map.
Today"s blog will be about the lesson we had on mind-mapping. we told to do a mind map map about "The happiness that can be brought about through education" or something like that as i can't really remember that well what"s really the previews topic as according to our lecturer,it"s just a warm up.So for this warm up, with the same team members that had did the "100 ways to kill..." ,we thought about how education can brought about happiness.
we tried to categorize it into several different titles such as "technology, natural and money".
So our mind set was heading towards the idea of " Having more or higher means that you will have the ability and knowledge to create new technology, thus able to improve communication by creating high-tech gadget like smart phone or laptop etc, and through such innovation we get access to the internet . with the internet ,humans create social media and other entertain sites such as you tube or daily motion . Applications like "whats app "or"line" were also created and with these apps, families and friends are brought closer to gather which overall links people closer together and improve communication around people. Having to experience to communicate with others more easier then before and lead to happiness. Thus education = happiness.
but we were unable to finish up as its just a warm up activity.

Lets move to the next assignment:
'The pursuit of happiness' :D

boonit,me and esther selfie:)
we randomly chose and group ourselves into groups of three( picture above)

so above is our brainstorming process of the team. we had the "pursuit of happiness"
defined by an elderly, child, teenage(student) ,couple etc.  For a child might be stuff like toys ,candies, games ,food and also the attention of their parents. For a student, friends ,games, results, sports, drama. For an adult,5 Cs-condo,car,credit card, cash ,Country Club Membership. For an elderly, maybe family ,grandchildren, peace ,health and care. These are basically some ideas and examples that we thought of  in the process. however, after browsing through our work, mickey said that to focus on just one aspects like," The pursuit of happiness is defined by..?" And in the category of an adult could be lets say a billionaire or just a normal kaisu Singaporean( Since we mention about the 5 Cs)
So we decide to make it "The pursuit of happiness defined by a Kiasu Singapore
So we went do some research about our selection something interesting that greatly helped us in our process of creating the mind map. Its a comic illustration called"mr Kiasu " which talks about the actions of those typical Singaporeans acting in certain interesting ways . Thus in in my opinion ,i think that by doing those action or just experiencing it can be a" pursuit of happiness" done by a Kiasu Singaporean.
A-Z of a kiasu Singaporean. Interesting isn't it?

so after finding some inspiration, we decide to get to work. Me and Esther were doing most of the writing and thinking process while Boonit is the designer of our mind map .
Esther working hard on the writing and Boonit posing.
In the process of designing the mind map, at first we were deciding on how we are going to position the mind map but in the end we decided to put the term at the bottom and put the person who defined happiness on top . so basically overall ,it looks portrait. Most of the idea they put in are from the comic book itself.  Thus we do not have much difficulty in thinking of more ideas. We just varied each point we've using different colors. We circle the words and drew a line to link the it to the heading so to emphasize and organize each points .However overall ,we had a great time as i think that our idea varied from other groups and the "pursuit of happiness defined by a Kiasu Singaporean" is really something to laugh about .
i accidentally wrote a repeated point ,thus i doodle on it to try to make it not so obvious and hide my mistake.
We are also satisfied with our overall design, credits to our designer as this topic is mainly on Singaporean o since his from Thai, he isn't very sure of what Kiasu really means thus he decided to focus on drawing and designing the mahjong paper instead .
Boonit working hard on the cute design.

And... finished!
Finished!

Physical journal..

Today I'll writing about:

The 3 things I'd like to be doing everyday at home , in school or just anywhere:D

1.Reading manga

2. playing volleyball

                3.watching anime(Japanese animation)

The reasons why I didn't do those things :

1. no time ,too many stuff to do now a days
 for example: homework, housework etc.

2. going out with friends or being forced to go shopping
hard to find them to be with them so I ended up spending my free time

3.part-time job - need to earn some money and save due to personal financial problems

4.sometimes my friends are just too"busy" and we could play together( volleyball)..
and there's another reason..I lost my ball in to the sea at the beach therefore I couldn't play it:(

5.The train or bus is too crowded and I couldn't watch my videos
or i couldn't download my videos due to poor internet connection or not having the access to wi-fi

6. just plain lazy , having finally to relax during your free time, sometimes my mind could just go blank and day dream all day long or just jump on bed and have a good rest

But overall, the biggest barrier that is preventing me to do those things would be insufficient time and money.
That's all:D

killing a cockroach ...with a "hammer" !

Posted by Unknown at 23:30 0 comments
lets continue...

out of all the crazy ideas that we have summarised, I chose
'kill a cockroach with a hammer'.
yes, it may not sound right as in why use hammer of all objects, anything heavy could just eliminate this little insect.
so my idea is ,in order to make this idea work and also to be more 'functional' in the future, here's how it goes:

imagine yourself as a lady in a house all alone, weak and gentle. One fine day,one of her greatest fear,a cockroach went crawling pass her sight of view.Naturally she would scream and starts jumping or simply hops on any chair near by.But today, she suddenly felt the urge to conquer this fear and took a hammer and started slamming it on this creature. While the disadvantage is that she'll have to clean up the floor every time she does this. But the advantage is that if she were to do this often , her strength may increase, her agility and speed may also be enhance .Furthermore, well if she's lucky enough, she may become professional drummer or something in the future.Insane isn't it?

That's not all. The other advantage is that she'll no longer be a weak lady any more. She'll be able to pin a nail down easily or pound grains or spices easily while cooking .

so yeah, that's all for how "killing a cockroach with a hammer' can become a functional thing in the future.

Reflection: group work on 100 ways to..kill a cockroach!!

Posted by Unknown at 00:28 0 comments
So we chose "killing cockroaches”. The reason I think my group chose "ways to kill cockroaches" most likely is because we girls fear and despise these insects .The sight of the very thing in front of us may have driven us to have the urge to destroy them but due to the lack of courage and a wholesome of fear (seeing those tingling legs and feelers moves ..ewww) that we can only imagine killing them in our brains. So....

Most probably that's the reason why.

1st piece of idea..(really chaotic..)

Next, we started brainstorming and discussing about the topic chosen.

Slowly, all of us started doodling all over the paper without thinking. It started out with the idea of "burning the cockroach”, "smacking it with your hand" to really insane and crazy ideas like, “driving over it using a car" and also" blending it". Most of our idea sounds really out the world but all of us we’re really enjoying ourselves. Especially one of us( not gonna say who) started including his own characters inside(which is really cute) .Overall, it turns out really messy and chaotic. Our drawings were everywhere.

2nd piece of idea..(more creative and ideas)

That was all about the first try. But the second one (Picture above) turns out way better .The lecturer gave the class advice about organizing our work and we decided for a change .We drew a large cockroach in the centre as it is the main focus of the topic and drew branches to indicate and categorize certain similar methods together so that it doesn't turn out looking as messy as before (e.g.; household appliances or kitchen appliances).
As you can see above, it’s more organized and also contains many little doodle. But there"s not enough ideas and wasn't well organised or categorized enough.

3rd piece of idea..

(Categorize in to different categories and not as messy as before)

Therefore , we proceed with our third and final piece. We categorize it into 4 titles ( weapons, kitchen appliances, nature and other stuff ). So each of us is in charge of one title and lucky I'm doing the"other stuff" category. because under other stuff, that's a lot of things or tools that can be used to destroy the insect. Every day tools, household appliances, furnitures or even transport( i know it sounds ridiculous ) . In the process, all of us are focus on our part and we also exchange ideas. Its really enjoyable and fun as we can freely express our drawings. When we're finally finished, a huge sense of satisfaction just arouses in my heart.

Lastly here's the end product, Yeah. Overall, we truly enjoyed ourselves :)
