Mind-map !

Posted by Unknown at 02:25
Mickey explaining about mind mapping and different ways to do mind map.
Today"s blog will be about the lesson we had on mind-mapping. we told to do a mind map map about "The happiness that can be brought about through education" or something like that as i can't really remember that well what"s really the previews topic as according to our lecturer,it"s just a warm up.So for this warm up, with the same team members that had did the "100 ways to kill..." ,we thought about how education can brought about happiness.
we tried to categorize it into several different titles such as "technology, natural and money".
So our mind set was heading towards the idea of " Having more or higher means that you will have the ability and knowledge to create new technology, thus able to improve communication by creating high-tech gadget like smart phone or laptop etc, and through such innovation we get access to the internet . with the internet ,humans create social media and other entertain sites such as you tube or daily motion . Applications like "whats app "or"line" were also created and with these apps, families and friends are brought closer to gather which overall links people closer together and improve communication around people. Having to experience to communicate with others more easier then before and lead to happiness. Thus education = happiness.
but we were unable to finish up as its just a warm up activity.

Lets move to the next assignment:
'The pursuit of happiness' :D

we randomly chose and group ourselves into groups of three( picture above)

so above is our brainstorming process of the team. we had the "pursuit of happiness"
defined by an elderly, child, teenage(student) ,couple etc.  For a child might be stuff like toys ,candies, games ,food and also the attention of their parents. For a student, friends ,games, results, sports, drama. For an adult,5 Cs-condo,car,credit card, cash ,Country Club Membership. For an elderly, maybe family ,grandchildren, peace ,health and care. These are basically some ideas and examples that we thought of  in the process. however, after browsing through our work, mickey said that to focus on just one aspects like," The pursuit of happiness is defined by..?" And in the category of an adult could be lets say a billionaire or just a normal kaisu Singaporean( Since we mention about the 5 Cs)
So we decide to make it "The pursuit of happiness defined by a Kiasu Singapore
So we went do some research about our selection something interesting that greatly helped us in our process of creating the mind map. Its a comic illustration called"mr Kiasu " which talks about the actions of those typical Singaporeans acting in certain interesting ways . Thus in in my opinion ,i think that by doing those action or just experiencing it can be a" pursuit of happiness" done by a Kiasu Singaporean.
A-Z of a kiasu Singaporean. Interesting isn't it?

so after finding some inspiration, we decide to get to work. Me and Esther were doing most of the writing and thinking process while Boonit is the designer of our mind map .

In the process of designing the mind map, at first we were deciding on how we are going to position the mind map but in the end we decided to put the term at the bottom and put the person who defined happiness on top . so basically overall ,it looks portrait. Most of the idea they put in are from the comic book itself.  Thus we do not have much difficulty in thinking of more ideas. We just varied each point we've using different colors. We circle the words and drew a line to link the it to the heading so to emphasize and organize each points .However overall ,we had a great time as i think that our idea varied from other groups and the "pursuit of happiness defined by a Kiasu Singaporean" is really something to laugh about .
i accidentally wrote a repeated point ,thus i doodle on it to try to make it not so obvious and hide my mistake.
We are also satisfied with our overall design, credits to our designer as this topic is mainly on Singaporean o since his from Thai, he isn't very sure of what Kiasu really means thus he decided to focus on drawing and designing the mahjong paper instead .

And... finished!
Finished!
